How did Phil do it? What Phil did was introduce a new
system: the "triangle offense." Next, he worked with
their psychology to get them to play the system over
their own selfish motives; in other words, to play as a
team. Third, he inspired them to be the very best in
their position. He would tell them that they hadn't yet
arrived and raised the bar of expectations.
Once Phil Jackson got the Lakers playing his system,
they went on to win three championships. Not bad, for a
team that didn't get along. Now, as a business leader,
you might be saying, "how does this relate to me?"
Well, because, the best have a coach, that's why. Do
you have a coach? If you don't, you're selling yourself
short. Do you want to be the best in your chosen
vocation? CEO's often have a board of directors, sports
stars have personal trainers and coaches, government
leaders have a cabinet, and so forth. If you hire the
right coach, you will be guided to higher levels of
success.
If you're looking for a business coach, our
recommendation is to hire someone you trust, who you
feel has good ideas. If you'd like further help in
hiring a coach, or in seeing if AspireNow's weekly and
monthly advisory service is appropriate for you, please
