The Power of "HA".
"Ha Ha" is akin
to
"Aha!". We need laughter to understand our divine selves. If we are truly communicating with God, we
are certainly not always serious. Laughter improves our moods. Significant scientific and spiritual reasons exist for this
phenomenon.
When we laugh, our brains release endorphins into our
body. We are experiencing the divine in our body sense. Every
religion has the sound of Ah or Ha as the word expressing the divine or
God. Examples are YAHweh, AllAH, MoHAmmed, GOD is even pronounced, GAHD.
It is also a sound frequently used by people who meditate and combine sound and
chanting with their spiritual experience.
Ever
notice how laughter relieves tense situations? Although comic relief has
occurred in plays dating back to Renaissance tragedy, comedies remain a strong
category on the shelves of video stores. A good case in point would be many of Alfred Hitchcock's
movies. Hitchcock, known as the "Master of Suspense," commonly
used humor at key dramatic points to help bring the audience up or down to ease
stressful scenes.
Reader's
Digest has a column titled, "Laughter, The Best Medicine." As
a young boy, I would always read this column to help me deal with the tension of
waiting to see my good dentist, Dr. Maxson, who inevitably kept me in his chair
for over an hour each visit.
The
next time you feel the need to get your spirit light enough to transcend the
deep thoughts, try laughter. It also works to get you out of tight spots
at work, dissolves arguments with a loved one, or builds rapport with a
stranger. If you are
uncomfortable with your humor, this is a sign of something inside your own self
which you have not yet uncovered. I used to feel uncomfortable with my sense of
humor and thought I wasn't funny, until one day I took a chance and
made a few quick quips. Everyone cracked up and said how
funny I was. I'm not always a comedian, but now I know that by
"risking" humor or being a bit goofy there's
a chance someone else just might see it that way too.
When
we laugh, the sound "ha" stirs up the divine within us. Smile, laugh and see how many more people want to be around
you -- because people want to be in the presence of the divine.
