What
Else Is There?
I recently talked on
the telephone with my friend, Alexandra, a healer and spiritual guide,
who shared some wisdom she discovered while reading A Course In Miracles
that she said has "changed her life!" |
|
|
|
Although I was still in
bed, groggy, and not really in the mood to get deep, I sat up and
decided to listen anyway and said, "do tell!"
|
|
|
|
Alexandra replied with
something like this: "Well, I was talking to God and asking God what
all this thing called 'life' is about. God replied, 'you really want
to know?' I said, 'yes, I really want to know.' God said, 'okay,
I'll tell you. If you look at where all of this started, and wonder
why all of this is what it is, it all goes back to when you asked
the question, what else is there?'"
"WHAT
ELSE IS THERE?" Hmm. I thought about this.
EPIPHANY! That's also
the moment when people always get on purpose - they ask a question
like that. And, they either go into ego or they realize their folly
and get back to spirit.
I interjected at this
point. "Hmm. Maybe that's what the 'Adam and Eve' story from the
book of Genesis in the Bible is all about. You know, maybe the
Serpent is representative of the question. Once Eve asks the
question, it's all downhill from there." Or, once humans ask that,
we get into ego and out of spirit.
Alexandra continued.
"Yes, I think you might be right. From there, I surmised
I must change my perspective. It all made sense and
just falls into what it is "supposed to be" now that I stopped
asking the question, 'What else is there?'"
So then, perhaps a key
is to recognize the moment we are dissatisfied and recognize in that
moment and question whether we're coming from EGO, or SPIRIT?
I think I understand
what she was talking about. Because, "What else is
there?" is the question that comes from the ego, or the basis of
HUMAN experience. And if you truly wish to go back to your SPIRITUAL
core, you must go beneath that ego-human experience. "What else is
there?" is what drives all people to be great while here on earth.
It is also what leaves us feeling dissatisfied and feeling hopeless
or less-than. Make the choice, each day... and see where it leads
you.
Asking "What else is there?" can lead you to great deeds while
living here on Earth.
Not asking "What
else is there?" can lead you to being at peace and [being] one with
your Spirit.
Both are important
to know. Both may lead you where you want to go. The choice is
yours.
