Writing about 2008 was a lesson in
discernment, there are so many conflicting developments…it’s like our
whole world starts tilting. Discernment is a good talent to develop in
2008, or one could drown in the details of everyone else’s life, not to
mention the twisting fates of whole countries and the environment.
Terror and violence, scandals and revelation--whatever crazy thing
happens, don’t forget to pencil into your schedule, rest and relaxation,
things you enjoy, and that are truly refreshing. The key to inner peace
is to set your own pace.
“Everybody gets theirs.” sums up the possibly heavenly or possibly
hellish human experience in 2008. For good and for bad, many things
come true now. In its positive aspect, if you’ve been working hard for
years on something that’s been successfully received, now you’ll get
more success, reward, and recognition—this trend is a big plus for
organizations such as
www.freecycle.org
and
www.bioneers.org. If
you’ve been screwing anybody or everybody, now’s when the people try to
tar and feather you.
A stand-out feature of this year is that it offers opportunities…all
kinds! But there’s some kind of scramble or struggle to reach them,
they’re likely to involve a very steep learning curve. The other good
news this year is that as a collective, despite the shocks, people tend
to become more loving and aware of each other, making real connections
with each other in some brand new ways.

U.S. and the world at large:
Culling the newsletters for 2006 and 2007 for mentions of 2008, earlier
predictions (“Courage stirs, chaos reins, and in 2008, expect regime
change!”) would lead me to think a change-agent and practical type like
Barack Obama wins the White House. Another series of earlier predictions
about the waves of fall-out from David Fitzgerald’s prosecutions of the
Administration officials would make me think Cheney could get impeached,
or some trial takes place that relieves the public because they feel
like justice is served, followed by a “contraction” in the U.S. that I
would interpret as bad economic times. I woke up from a dream one night
in early December with the thought that the elections don’t go as
expected, yet someone good comes into power, (I thought a man, and
rather suddenly).
However, the tense and weird astrology on
Election Day in the U.S. indicates there could be yet another
fraud-filled election. November and December have a tight stressful feel
like we could get into another war. On a positive note, healthcare and
education reform should be high on the agenda in 2009.
As the year gets going the mood goes from
idealistic and denial-prone to realistic and telling it like it is (The
housing market won’t come back for years.) However, difficulty is
somehow contained, the really undeniable damage probably won’t be this
year. The stock market may go way up at some point but it can’t maintain
its position. Most notably, there will be many more jaw-dropping
revelations of corruption and fraud in many high places. The public will
be floored.
A large development that begins to unfold
is Big Government, with more and more power concentrated into
governments that then join together. A sign of this is the ambitious
NAFTA Superhighway, basically shrouded from public view. Early in 2007,
boarding a bus in Mexico, I plopped down next to an American woman
ex-pat, and we began to talk—I’m always curious about why people leave
their homeland. Her husband’s career had brought them close to Mexico
City, where he worked for various international financial newspapers.
“You ought to invest in Mexico because of the super-highway!” she
volunteered. “They’re building a highway that connects Mexico to Canada
and it’ll really boost the economy down here.” I came home and Googled
“NAFTA Superhighway.” There were many articles and videos about this
ambitious government plan that the administration has more or less kept
a secret. Supposedly, the highway is part of a plan to join Canada,
Mexico, and the U.S. into a union like the European Union, with the
“amero” as its new currency. Today I read in the paper that Republican
Congressman Ron Paul was called a liar in the Washington Post for
stating that the government was building this highway. Go Google it and
see for yourself!
There’s something uncorked about
2008—people act out unabashedly and are unapologetic about their true
motivations—no one hides where they’re coming from.
Finding 2008 fertile ground for solution-seeking organizations, grass
roots groups for social justice and ecological balance grow at a faster
and faster clip. People get less complacent and more involved in their
causes, and the downtrodden and workers of the world actively buck
authorities for fairer treatment. It’s an active year where people
demand answers, accountability, and justice.
And at the same time, Big Government is just getting going….
Places: California gets
stronger—there’s lots of building of infrastructure. Maybe they get in
better fiscal shape.. China, inspired and successful, keeps on going to
a happier place than it’s been for centuries. Columbia has a more
positive, people-friendly and liberating year. Venezuela is okay
financially. (I wrote this before it came out that Venezuela has a new
currency, I guess the message refers to the fact it works.)
People: Scientists
quietly go about being wildly
creative but 2009 might be more of a true breakthrough time. Science is
just about to connect with the ways to produce differently, creating a
new era, but there’s still a ways to go. The explosive development of
social and business networking on the internet is the same story: it’s a
year of exploration and experimentation, but this isn’t the year it so
definitely arrives.
Nature: Sometimes something brand new
pops out of Mother Earth! Borne by its inhabitants, Nature, or in some
new way, new forms spring to life. Oceans get attention and help getting
cleaner.
General Guidance:
Big leaps in self-understanding are
likely by the end of the year, but it’s also a particularly murky time
when people must live without assurances, not knowing a lot about where
things are going. The best things to have and develop this year are
personal strength, and a cooperative relationship with others-- that’s
much more useful than knowing a lot.
In 2008, your intuition will chime in at needed times to guide you—don’t
stress that you don’t know enough about the future—how intuition works
is to give you what you need to know when you need to know it—don’t
decide yet if you don’t know yet.
Routing out the old and useless comes
first, whether you’re a person or a collective. Let energy flow by
apologizing to anyone you owe an apology to, acknowledging a past action
that’s been denied, or forgiving someone.
Choose your fights, let almost everything go. Snags can get ugly.
It’s crucial to read the writing on the
wall, and then react to it—if something isn’t working, it’s best to
abandon it.
Many plan for and consider radical departures from the past, both in
their personal and professional lives. Career change is in the air.
Personal Success and Prosperity in 2008
The downfall of the self-employed
in particular in 2008 is “Unattended Stuff.” Don’t let stuff accumulate!
First tend to the present, then plan for the future.
Another downfall would be to not be flexible and willing to develop new
skills.
To create a “beautiful business”, pay attention to detail. Quality
products and quality service is what will succeed now and for many years
to come.
Don’t try to expand your territory and make a lot of moves, get more
organized and professional and enrich what you’ve got right where you
are.
If you’re already in business, this is a “kick it up a notch” year, a
betwixt and between cycle of getting in higher gear with better methods
to reach a greater level of career success. Long term projects that have
already experienced success get more recognition and into a better
position now. It’s important to be ready for this. If you’re invested in
something that has not been successful, this would be when to disband it
and abandon it. |

Air (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius):
You’re steaming ahead towards more powerful situations, and you’ll find

Earth (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn): A phase of your life is

sync is your heart and spirit—you could make long term plans now, being

Aries:
Don’t worry about details this year, focus on the basics, and what is
clearly most important. What do you really need? Give yourself comfort,
and make yourself comfortable. There are signs of greater recognition
and career success, but money matters could create some sort of
necessary adjustments to make things balance out.
Taurus:
It doesn’t look like you come to a solution about long-term matters this
year. Freedom creates conflict at first and then in the long run,
resolve. Stay steady, keep on going on an even keel in the direction
that feels most where you want to be. 2008 calls on your strength.
Gemini:
Opportunities Come. you are more independent, more accomplished, get
more opportunities and make more money. You’re able to elevate yourself,
feel freer and more accomplished.
Cancer:
A year of art, creativity, and inner understanding. You have an
opportunity for wonderful experiences—quite magical—going overseas
could be great. Some have a sense of looking for a home or place, not
feeling connected, and this can take you far away. Getting things
financially sure and squared away is a goal.
Leo:
You venture into new things. Learning how to be more powerful in the
world is coming to you as a subject, and you’re not necessarily prepared
for it or know how to be in the world in a more powerful way. Your path
could change now, where you were excited by new goals. To avoid like the

Virgo:

Libra:
Expect to find better places to go, more opportunities. Don’t fuss with

anything else.
Scorpio:
It’s a more positive year all around, and you are rightfully more
optimistic. You’re on your way to financial stability but there’s some
conflict in the process or still some past difficulty to deal with.
Encountering conflict is nothing new, just keep on going!
Sagittarius:
You put a lot of effort into your goals this year, however it’s an
exploratory kind of year where completion is not what’s easily
happening. This is a year for getting in which people give you help and
support, when you’re in the mode of pushing for your own ideas, and are

Capricorn:

Aquarius:
For some, it is a really different year, with different thoughts about

Whatever
your sun sign, this forecast will help you choose how to best use each
month’s astrological energies! Events are most powerful on the dates
listed. However, their influence will be active for at least several
days before and after. All dates and times are in the U.S. eastern time
zone.
While everyone is affected by these global transits, you will be most
powerfully impacted when moving planets activate natal planets and other
sensitive points in your birth chart.
Factors that continue to weigh on February that occurred in January:
1/25. PLUTO'S ENTRY INTO
CAPRICORN,
which begins today, is probably the most important astrological event of
2008. When Pluto changes signs -- which only happens every 12 to 20
years -- it signals profound transformations in the areas of life which
relate to that sign.
Just look at one example
of what's happened since Pluto made its prior sign change, entering
Sagittarius in 1995. One thing Sagittarius represents is religion. Since
1995, the Catholic Church has weathered a huge scandal involving the
sexual abuse of children by priests, and numerous fundamentalist
megachurch preachers have been ruined by scandal. (Pluto loves to bring
hidden dirty doings out into the light!) In a more positive vein, there
has been an ever-accelerating sea change in how more and more people now
approach spirituality, abandoning more intellectual or emotional
approaches in favor of direct, conscious and transformative union with
Spirit.
So what can we expect as
Pluto transits Capricorn for the next 16 years? For one thing, even more
exposure of the hidden dirty doings of big business – the huge
multinationals, in particular. Capricorn also represents the underlying
structure of things – it rules the skeleton, for example – and is an
earth sign. Thus, Capricorn can represent the core structure of the
Earth itself. Pluto, representing death and rebirth, gives a clear and
sobering message at this critical moment in history: either humans need
to positively restructure how they interact with the global ecosystem,
or death and destruction on a cataclysmic scale will result. And there
is no guarantee that humans will be among the surviving species.
Heavy stuff, I know, but
Capricorn is a no-nonsense, let's-deal-with-the-facts kind of sign, and
it is not Pluto's habit to sugarcoat hard truths. Let's just hope that
the United States, China and the other major contributors to climate
change quickly embrace the radical paradigm shifts needed to ensure that
the Earth continues to possess a habitable ecosystem.
1/28.
MERCURY RETROGRADE.
Mercury is back (and backing) for a three-week retrograde, lasting from
3:31 p.m. U.S. eastern time today (around 24° Aquarius) until 9:58 p.m.
on 2/18, where The Trickster shifts into drive again (around 8°
Aquarius). As always, communications, technology and travel are more
prone to glitches during this time, and it's best not to start major new
projects if you can avoid it. You can use this time positively by
reflecting on how well you're fulfilling your core needs, reassessing
your technological tools, and meditating on how you can contribute more
to the common good.
1/30. MARS GOES DIRECT
today, finishing a two-and-a-half-month retrograde that started on
11/15. Taken in isolation, this represents a green light to kick into
gear with all the plans you've been cooking up since mid-November.
Personally, however, I'd wait at least until 2/19 when Mercury is direct
again!
Now, on to
February!
2/1.
What luckier way to open the month than with the two classic benefics –
Venus and Jupiter – conjoining? Beyond the general vibe of good fortune,
this conjunction also speaks of good fortune in relationship, expanded
creativity, and – because they're coming together in Capricorn – good
financial and business prospects as well. Make hay while the sun
shines!
2/2.
Turn your mind to meditation or creative receptivity as Mercury
conjuncts Neptune today. Rational thought processes can get a bit fuzzy
with this combination, so err on the side of intuitive decision-making
instead. Since this conjunction is in Aquarius, a flash or two of
inspiration isn't out of the question either!
2/4.
Venus, still closely conjunct lucky Jupiter (see 2/1), trines Ceres
today. Venus and Ceres can both represent things of value – including
money and self-esteem – so you have support in both of these areas
today!
2/5.
Today's Sun-Chiron conjunction gives you the opportunity to shine light
into any of the following areas: childhood wounds, mentorship given or
received, alternative healing or fine-tuning. Pick any or all!
2/6.
Today's ANNULAR SOLAR ECLIPSE
(visible in part of Australia, all of New Zealand and most of
Antarctica), which is also a NEW MOON,
hits at 18° Aquarius today. The New Moon is at 10:43 p.m. US Eastern
time, while the eclipse peaks a few minutes later at 10:55 p.m.
New Moon
eclipses are much more powerful than ordinary New Moons. Anyone can use
this Aquarian New Moon for new beginnings in individuation,
humanitarianism and scientific or technical endeavors, or for letting
their "freak flag" fly more proudly.
For
additional insights into how you can optimize this energy, examine your
natal chart to see which house the eclipse is in, and what sensitive
points around 18° Aquarius, Leo, Taurus or Scorpio are being affected by
it.
The Sun
and Mercury also cross paths today. This should help to sharpen up your
brain and burn away any mental fog that may have been caused by the
Mercury-Neptune conjunction on 2/2!
Finally,
today's Venus-Uranus sextile may help open you to fresh insights on how
to make relationships more grounded or productive, and/or how to make
some money!
2/7.Two
completely different aspects give a similar message today. You can use
both the Mars-Saturn quintile and the Mercury-Chiron conjunction to give
strong, consistent energy to learning, writing, teaching and other forms
of communication.
2/10.
Ah yes – the annual conjunction of the Sun and Neptune. A magnificent
time for dissolving into the union of Divine Bliss, or receiving the
creative bounty of the Muse! Focusing in these areas will also keep you
from being pulled into Neptune's darker side: negative escapism such as
overuse of drugs or alcohol, or zoning out with too much TV, sex, food
or Internet!
2/13.
imagine one of those flashing signs on the highway lit up with the
following message: RELATIONSHIPS & CREATIVITY <blink> ADJUSTMENT
REQUIRED. That's the basic message of today's Venus-Mars quincunx.
Challenging though this 150° angle can be, it also offers great rewards.
If you're able to make the required adjustment, you can create a magical
connection with your beloved or your Muse!
2/14.
So here it is, the one day of the year specifically devoted to romance
(in the USA, at least). And who better to represent Cupid's arrow then
the arrow-pointed glyph of Mars? The ruler of Aries also represents the
passionate fire of love, and he gains additional energy today from his
easy-flowing trine to the Sun. if you successfully negotiated whatever
issues might have come up yesterday (see 2/13), you could well be set up
for a very passionate Valentine's Day!
2/17.
Venus enters Aquarius today through 3/12. It’s a good time to strive for
true equality in relationship, as well as experimenting with
relationship structures outside the norm. Finding your true,
one-of-a-kind creative vision can also be easier during this time.
2/18.
MERCURY GOES DIRECT late
today at 9:58 p.m. US Eastern time, clearing at least one obstacle to
the initiation of major new projects. (To ensure optimal timing of
important new initiatives, be sure to consult your astrologer!)
Just to
add creative inspiration to whatever you're kicking off, a
GOLDEN YOD peaks today. This magical
aspect pattern lasts the 16th thru the 19th, and features Mars and
Saturn focusing their composite "Energizer Bunny" energy onto Venus. See

enhancing!
2/19.
The Sun enters Pisces at 1:49 a.m. US Eastern time, where it will remain
until it enters Aries on March 20. Until then, the Sun radiates the
energy of the poet, the mystic and the dreamer. Your ability to access
the realms beyond the physical plane -- be they spiritual or creative --
is enhanced. In the grand archetypal scheme, Pisces is the optimal time
to receive visions. You can then put them into action under the
initiating power of Aries.
2/20.
Eclipses typically come in pairs two weeks apart, which is why today's
TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE follows so close
behind the Solar Eclipse on the 6th. This eclipse, at 2° Virgo, will be
visible throughout most of the Americas as well as western Europe. The
eclipse is exact at 10:26 p.m. US Eastern time, immediately followed by
the FULL MOON at 10:31 p.m.
Full
Moons are time to take stock of how you're doing -- in this case, in the
areas of service, detail work, health and daily habits. Because of the
eclipse, the downstream effects of the adjustments you make now will
have unusually powerful ramifications.
For

It's time for another reality check on relationships and creativity as

for solutions to problems that you haven't tried before!
2/24.
It's easy to space out a bit with the Sun in Pisces, but today's
Sun-Saturn opposition should help bring you back to Earth. This aspect
embodies the energy of the Law of Attraction -- the Sun in Pisces
(visualization, imagination) opposing Saturn (physical manifestation) --
so it's a great time to focus on creating the reality you desire. Just
be sure to do something -- Saturn supports and energizes hard work, but
can weigh you down with melancholy or depression when left unharnessed!
2/26.
It's a great day for one-on-one communication with Mercury conjunct
Venus. Creative writing and harmonious thinking are also well supported.
